01Do I need to clean up my folders first?
No. Add your folders as they are. Build from Folders can turn the layout you already have into categories, and you can improve the organization over time.
02Will CutVault move or rename my files?
No. Your files stay where they are. CutVault only changes a file when you explicitly ask it to, such as renaming it from inside the app. Removing a folder from the library does not delete the files from your drive.
03Where can my files be stored?
Folders on your computer, external drives, USB and SD storage, and locally synced Google Drive, Dropbox and OneDrive folders.
04Can one design have several tags?
Yes. Add as many as it needs, and it shows up under each one.
05Can one design be in more than one category?
Yes. Add it to as many as it fits. It is still one file on your drive.
06How is a category different from a tag?
Categories are a structure you browse, with categories inside categories and a cover on each. A tag is a word you put on any design and filter by. Many makers use both.
07Does CutVault tag or sort my files on its own?
No. CutVault suggests tags, and nothing is applied until you approve it, on one design or in a batch you can undo. Build from Folders shows a preview before any category is created.
08What happens to duplicate copies?
One copy is kept. You choose whether the extras go to CutVault Trash, where they can be restored, are removed from CutVault while staying on your drive, or are deleted from your computer after you confirm.
09What happens if I unplug a drive?
CutVault shows the drive as offline. Reconnect it and its library content becomes available again.
10I have hundreds of thousands of files. Will that work?
Yes. CutVault is already used with libraries well over 300,000 files, including collections with more than 3 million files. Very large first-time libraries can take time to build, so CutVault shows progress while it works through them.
11Are these tools sold separately?
